Your First Visit
Have you ever gone to a restaurant and had a bad experience? We all have! This experience, however, doesn’t stop you from going out to eat. Chiropractors are much the same. They all have different styles and approaches, and if you had a previous experience that you didn’t care for, rest assured that there are many options available to you.
Our commitment to you on your first visit is to help and we will do this in one of two simple ways:
- By realising that you are in the place that you need to be to get the care you need or
- By realising that you are not a Chiropractic case and by helping you find the care you need.
On your first visit, we will sit down with you and discuss your current health situation to assess whether you are a good candidate for chiropractic care or if not, determine who the right person is to help you.
If we think we can help you we will conduct a thorough examination. We will look at how you bend and move, palpate your spine and look at your posture. All of the testings should be comfortable. This information helps us identify the cause or causes of your problem. X-rays are typically not required for children.
Often we can start care on this visit. Sometimes, depending on your condition and the results of our tests, in adults we may need to take x-rays or occasionally refer for CT or MRI imaging. We will know at this visit whether or not these tests are required before care can begin. At Vitality we offer a state of the art digital x-ray facility on site, allowing us to take exceptional x-rays onsite with minimal use of radiation. X-rays also help our Chiropractors rule out any other serious conditions and will assist them in developing the most effective recommendations for you.
You should allow 30- 45 minutes for your first visit.
Your Second Visit
We will explain what we found on your first visit in a way that is easy to understand and give you information to take home.
During this consultation, we will also go through what we have found through our examination and with your Xrays (if taken) and what we can do to help. How long we expect it may take and how much it will cost.
You should allow 30 minutes for your second visit.
Your regular visits will be much shorter, but they are just as important!
With these visits, we will discuss any changes you have noticed and at times repeat important tests that showed up in your initial examination so we can continue to monitor your improvement.
Most importantly we will then give you a spinal adjustment. These are gentle and specific movements to the spine and are performed differently depending on your age and type of spinal problem. Other techniques may include extremity adjusting and techniques to release muscles.
Some special follow-up visits may take up to 30 minutes. These include Progress Examinations – where a more detailed review of your progress is performed.
Most follow-up visits though only take about 5-10 minutes. We respect your time and, in most cases, will see you at or very close to your scheduled appointment time.
